Headlight

Postby nbsbbaker » Sat Nov 11, 2017 8:42 pm

Just replaced a makeshift wiring harness on my 51 with the a harness from Brillman and it looks great! The headlights were not attached when I purchased her and I'm now rebuilding the headlights. It looks like the power lead from the harness connects directly to the headlight with just a machine screw with no protection from the elements. Is that correct? Is this a problem if I'm working in the rain with the lights on?

That's the way they are designed. Keep in mind it's grounded on the inside so anything you do on the outside won't ground it or short it out.
Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over. :?:

I have the wiring harness from the same vendor for a 47 H and a 520 JD and that is the way they are. I think the screw and connection are brass to slow corrosion. That was the design of the day.

A light coating of dielectric grease might be useful.
