Slide a deluxe seat back?

Postby Super A » Fri Nov 24, 2017 9:26 am

So, I've done a few mild improvements to my Cub, AKA The Paperweight, over the years, and my favorite is the addition of an IH deluxe seat. The only issue I've run into with it is the fact it seems to have been designed for someone who's about five-foot-nothin' and I'm closer to 6' and plus I've put on a few too many pounds. So, I have to shift myself a bit so my knee is not against the throttle/steering wheel post. I've been looking at it and looks like it would be easy to drill a couple new holes in the seat frame and be able to move the seat back a couple inches. It doesn't appear this will interfere with the rear rockshaft, the only potential problem I see is it might contact the rear light.

Has anyone ever tried this modification and if so did you like the results?

The later cubs with deluxe seats have two extra holes so it can be moved back for more leg room. The holes are located on the seat frame.

Yes, you will wonder why you didn't do it a long time ago.

I haven't tried it. But, if you have a Fast Hitch, it may conflict with the leveling screw handle.

I moved mine back about 2 inches...about half the distance between the original mounting holes...
