Hamilton Bob's (a site sponsor...see bottom of page) has a new set of head bolts for $22.00. I broke a head off one of mine and ended up having to drill it out, then retap. Not a fun process. In hind sight I would try the low setting on an impact wrench, after using copious amounts of penetrating oil. The shaft of the bolt was actually siezed in the head itself.
Good luck

Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over.

Re: Well fiddle sticks
The head will have to come off eventually for some reason, to me that would be a good time to replace it if you're going that route. For me, the crack can be repaired where it's at. Isn't there a saying about sleeping dogs?
If you find a good bargain on a head, buy it and and set on the shelf. Think how smart you'll feel in 5 or 10 years when you HAVE to take the head off. Especially when you check prices and see that they have gone up. Now whether or not you take a paint pen and write a dollar amount on the head that is considerably less than what you actually paid is up to you. It will make it look like an even smarter decision unless your buddy needs a head and you sell it to him at what's written on it thinking that IS what you paid .
