On the '48 I have the flat alloy cover, and it is warped/dished.
Being as someone more knowledgeable made a jig to straighten a carbeurator, has anyone tried to straighten or flatten out the filter cover. What type of metal is it made of, and could heat and gentle pressure flatten it out?
Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over. :?:

I'm pretty sure that one is pot metal. You might be able to straighten it. Worst case is that it cracks and you need to replace it anyway.

I got the part # wrong. The McMaster part # for the copper one is 94397A597; 1/2" x3/4" x.032” which should be like the OEM. A pack of 10 is $11.76.

Purchased the copper washer to fit my Cub from the local hardware store for less than a $1-.

That copper washer has been in use for at least 15 years. Not sure why you would need to purchase a package of 10 washers.
I have an excuse. CRS.

The hardware store didn't have a crush washer so got two rubber o-rings and a nylon nut. Should hopefully fix the problem.
