Rear cultivator rods with a fast hitch

Postby J3 Driver » Sat Dec 02, 2017 10:15 pm

So I’m putting together a list of some items I need.

Two of these items are the rear cultivator lift rods. From what I can see from looking at the manuals they are the same weather you are using the rear rockstar of the fast hitch.

Is this correct?

One of them item I want to add is a fast hitch so it’s easier for my son to change implements.

And if you have a fast hitch the rear rock shaft isn’t required?

Thanks.

Keith

Make sure fast hitch has the longer pins required for the rear lift rods

Edited my response after reading Jim’s post. Learn something new every day. :-)

The horizontal holes through the swivels at the top of the pressure rods are different sizes depending on Fast-Hitch or not. You can use the conventional one with a Fast-Hitch by slipping a machine bushing on. The Fast-Hitch sized swivel will not fit on the conventional lifting bar.

There was a restyled pressure rod for the left universal mounting frame, needed with Fast-Hitch.

Hi,
Below are pages from the 1955 Cub owner's manual of the Fast Hitch.
You don't use the rear non Fast Hitch lift with a Fast Hitch.
The Belt Pulley Attachment they show is not needed.

1957 was about the time IH changed from the depth control lever, on the right side of the Cub, to the crank, which they used up until the end of making the Cub. I don't know if you are choosy about which one it has.

Below is the 1955 Cub owner's manual, if you don't have one. They have lots of info.

The left lift rod for the Universal Mounting Frame has a different end for use with the Fast Hitch, like Jim said above. Below is a page from the Cub 144 Cultivator owner's manual showing it, in the upper pic, at numbers 3 and 4 in the pic.
