Need help with a kub klipper belly mount

Postby Drfting1 » Sun Dec 03, 2017 12:59 pm

Ok was going to wait to pick up more implements, but for $50 I couldn't turn this down, does anyone have information on how this hooks up to a cub? Did a basic search and coming up with very little. Have an idea how deck itself might mount, but from the pto to deck I'm not sure and don't have a pto pulley for it.... Any help would be appreciated... Thanks Bill

Congrats on your find. I don't think you can go wrong with the purchase price. Good Luck!!! Here's some observations based on the picture:
1. Vertical lift is "farmer fix" evidenced by the unpainted rod and chains in front of the belt shield. It possibly originally connected to the mower at the flat bar bracket piece angled upward on the "push bar" just behind the left spindle assembly. The corresponding right side is missing this piece but the hole for attaching is there.
2.The piece standing upright with 2 pulleys at the front of the trailer might connect to the "platform" with the two bolts/nuts that's in the center of the deck. Guessing that the drive belt from PTO would run in the larger sheave and the smaller, upper sheave would run the deck belt. Different size would increase the spindle speeds.
3. The flat bar with the angle welded on it is the right side "push bar" and connects like the one on the left. Holes in the rear provide a pivot point indicating the "mule drive" is probably rigidly mounted to the tractor finals.
4. The mule drive is probably the part partly under the right side of the mower. The two sheaves on either side of it provide the mechanism to turn the drive belt from vertical to horizontal. The threaded rod probably provides some method of tension change for the drive belt. The PTO sheave that you are missing can be obtained separately. You can try a classified add on THE VINE forum or it can be purchased from a dealer who sells this type equipment.

Drafting I can take some photos next weekend and send them to you.

I like the Kub klipper design alot. My deck is in bad shape

Remove the rear support arm at the deck and mount them on the tractor. Then slid the mower under from the side. Also, the tensioner is very convenient but be careful not to over tighten. both are very nice design features

The blades are different but available. I purchase a set 2 years ago.

Contacted artsway 712-864-3131 then 1 for parts they gave me a part number R66102 for a replacement blade for k-60 3 blade belly mower. Had to go through a dealer to buy which they gave me. ~$26 (2015) each you need 4 x 7/16-20 x 1" bolt lock washer and nut if you want to replace the hardware.
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

Spacing of the holes on the mule drive mounting bar looks like it might bolt up to the Cub drawbar? If so, then in the mounted position the rear of the idler sheaves will closely align vertically with the PTO drive sheave.
EDIT: Another look at the picture makes me think the sheaves are too wide for that idea to work. I'm intreagued now! Post a picture when you get it all figured out.

Thank you both very much with all this information so far, going to pull cub out later and lay parts buy her, still kind of scratching my head how this will set up from pto, those pictures would be a huge help THANKS.. Once I know in have all the parts, I'll go ahead and put it on restore list for winter after sickle (might be picking a better one) and the rear spring cultivator set-up I have..... Now just need to get a front cultivator set-up, non fast hitch plow and a disc harrow, I'll be good for awhile....well maybe a chord saw..... Of course, maybe a good planter set-up would be great, everyone should have one of those... Cement mixer (figure it could hold ice and beverages for parties) ... Would like to make a water pump system to run off pto for no reason what's so ever... Oh god I need a couple more cubs for all of this  lol ( should have posted this on the medication thread lol)

But seriously, once again thank you all very much for the helpful inputs I'm receiving on this and all the cub projects I have done so far, no way I couldn't have done this without the help of the knowledge of the members here... Thank you

Are there a couple dog legs that would bolt to the finals and then connect to the "push bars" that aren't in the pictures?

If not how do they attach to the tractor. It doesn't appear they connect to the mule drive.

I think you are right about the alignment Stan.

Yeah, it was the one from Blairstown, kind of lucky when I seen it, I usually miss out on something like this... Just hope it has all parts, not seeing much information out there for this, other than what being told here

Click on "Cub Info", then "Rudi's Manuals-mirrored site", then "OEM implement manuals", then "Sunflower", then "Kub Klipper". It's not the same model but the mule drive looks similar and the rear picture may give you some hints on attaching.

It looks somewhat similiar but has different features from the Pennington mowers that I've seen. Pennington parts/diagrams/pictures are available at Quick Links tab above.

Thanks for the heads up on that, checked it out, I notice on the main idler frame everything is positioned offset to the left to line up with the PTO, the frame I have, everything is centered, is it possible this unit was originally off a farmall A? If it is, would it be worth to even have my local welder guy shift everything over, or just find a new home it... Someone that has an A

IMHO, since you only have $50 invested in the unit, I would reposition/modify the idler assembly to work with a cub. There is always the possibility that you could find another mule drive and use it. You would then only have to determine a way to attach the mower. I'm using a Pennington LoBoy mule drive with my Bush Hog 412 mower on my 57 LoBoy which also includes the FH. The mule drive assy including the idlers connect to the rear of the transmission. Everything fits well and no problems with clearance issues. Click on the pict makes it larger.
