Will Hitachi alternator fit on stock gen. brackets?

Postby punchofdeath » Fri Dec 08, 2017 8:21 pm

Not looking to spark a debate here on Delco vs. Hitachi.

Question is in the subject. I'm looking to get the Hitachi 14231 alternator because it has the two bottom mount holes. I figured it would be fine to just run a stud straight through the whole set up to hold it on (Of course have nuts on it and some sort of spacer if necessary. I was wondering if the pulley would line up good though without any major alterations.

If there are any questions I'll answer them as best as I can

Hi,
Below is a post from a few days ago, the man put a different brand of alternator on his LoBoy.
You can look and see how it fits, not sure how much different it is from the brand you wrote.
There is a pic 1/3 of the way down the page.

You didn't say if you have worked on your Cub clutch, that I've seen. :)
