A new one for the books, or am I snow-befuddled?

Postby DickB » Thu Jan 04, 2018 3:02 pm

Plowing the driveway of snow, it falling fast, the hood of the tractor covered in snow. The tractor did a dead stop. What? Couldn't be that fast for a run down battery or running out of gas. Could be a wire come loose. Wiggled wires. Checked gas level just because. Tried to start it up. Tractor started right up. Here's what I'm guessing: the snow around the base of the black (new type) gas tank cap closed off air to the tank. Much like getting dirt in the small hole of the old cap.

Doubt it eas snow, blocking tank vent. Might have been a loose wire.

Is it possible that some melting snow fell off of the hood and slid down onto the coil tower across the terminals grounding out your ignition momentarily?

I have had ice block the vent on the gas cap and stall my engine in my Cub. First thing I would check with a stall in snow.
