Before I remove the front tire

Postby ShawnAgne » Wed Jan 10, 2018 11:10 am

Just want to double check that I'm not missing something or forgetting to do something.

1. Going to wedge the front axle.
2. Use engine hoist to pick up front of tractor
3. Put jack stands under the front axle
4. Remove the wheel.

Tractor is not going to tip over with both rear tires on the ground.

If you are only doing one tire, just jack up and jack stand that side. Both tires, jack up and jack stand one side than the other. You may have to reposition the first side after elevating the 2nd side.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Eugene,

Thanks, I didn't think I had to wedge it but like I said just wanted to check. Last thing I want is to mess something up.

If you wedge the front axle, you can lift both wheels off the ground at the same time with the jack. One less jacking operation.

Yep, 1 tire just jack one side and block it. No wedges needed. If both just jack the first one up twice as high as you want. Block it then jack other side. Then you will be in good shape.

Yeah got the tire plugged last night after work. Going to get some snow here this afternoon in Ohio so probably just mount the wheel back on and then repack the bearings in early spring before mowing season, when I do the oil and all that stuff.
