Smoke out the oil filler

Postby Luke470 » Sun Feb 11, 2018 4:31 pm

Hi all,

Started the cub today after not having run it in a while.
The temperatures Have been below zero at night and single digits during the day.

When I first started it there was quite a bit if smoke coming out of the oil filler neck.

When it warmed up both the exhaust and the smoke cleared.

Blow by? Moisture from not having run?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks.

a possibility , could have been just moisture condensing in the oil . run it a little while over a few days and see if it continues ? coppersmythe..................ps . down here in the deep south , moisture is the enemy . 90-100% humidity is not unusual for months . i've seen my cubs look like jeff silvey hit them with a fire hose , and it had not rained for a week . i change the tranny oil yearly .............................................

I wouldn't worry about it right now. Wait until the weather warms up. Then work the tractor for a couple of hours. See what happens.

Like coppersmythe, I have seen my stored inside tractors covered with condensation.
I have an excuse. CRS.

When plowing snow this winter back in Dec and Jan I noticed the same thing too.
