Handyandy's new project

Postby Handyandy » Sun Feb 26, 2012 9:40 pm

After a lot of searching in the GA FL area, I found this cub. Brought it home today. The seller told me it was a 52, but when I referenced the serial number it turns out it is a 57 (198708 J). It fired right up at his house, and everything worked flawlessly. Got home and couldn't get it started, so to get out of the rai, I simply sat in the seat, grabbed the tire tread and rolled back off the trailer. Once I got inside I popped the gas cap, turns out there was only enough in there to get out of his garage and onto my trailer  I haven't been able to tinker much with it since I just got it in the garage and it is raining, but hopefully tomorrow I can get some better pictures.

Andy,
Sharp looking cub you got there. You'll have a blast getting that baby into ship shape!

Looking at your zip code, I do believe I was fortunate enough to meet you this past week-end, right? !! :{_}: :{_}:

Good looking Cub you got there Andy. It didn't take long for the bug to bite. Maybe the next time your dad comes to visit he can bring Ed along to give you a few pointers.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Andy, that's a nice cub! The sheet metal, including the grill, looks like it is in good shape. Personally, I prefer an underslung exhaust on a mowing tractor because it is easier to get under tree branches and you don't need to breath the fumes while you mow.

A good way to become familiar with your cub (and its' previous owner) is to change the fluids and oil filter.

Congratulations!

No nitrogen precharges to check on this machine! Pre and post walk arounds are still recommended!!

The only pointers he's gonna give you are whether to get chocolate-frosted or cream-filled !!!

Wow! so many responses in only a matter of minutes. Yes, I caught the bug, it really didn't take much, I'm always looking for a project, and with the community that follows around these cubs, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to join!

No Raymond, no precharges to check, but this cub is going to be getting a major inspection this week, need to get it off a red dash and on to a black letter initial! Going to be a few red X's in the process I'm sure

The sheet metal is really good on this thing, amazingly, the battery box, (which is open in the pic) is in excellent shape, and the hood, grill and gas tank are all in great condition

Nice find.
Since there is no depot facility for cubs, this must be a phase inspection.

Hey Andy, nice cub. Now all we need to do is get up a minifest down at Mr. E's and check it out while we eat and socialize while the yankees are back up north.
