My 1956 Farmall Cub

Postby Glen » Tue Mar 20, 2012 6:40 pm

Hi,
Here's a picture of my 1956 Farmall Cub. It has been owned by our family for 40 years. I guess you learn a lot about a Cub owning one or more of them for that long, I'm sure some of you other guys do too. I rebuilt the engine, and did other work to it, and repainted it. It was nice and complete and almost original, I think, when my dad bought it at an IH dealer. We've owned 3 Cubs over the years. Good luck guys, you really do good, restoring tractors for people to see or use. Thanks for looking, Glen. :)

Well Glen, let me give you a big ole welcome from Arkansas. And yeah, love that cub just the way it is set up. Great history. I do remember dad bringing his first cub home in the early 50's. He did'nt keep it long, after he went to public work. After that he owned 2 more cubs and an A. He did love the cubs.

Welcome home Glen... :D
Very nice cub you have there, 22 mower, I see a depth lever for a plow. A worker yet a real good looker too.

Hi,
Thank you Randallc, Yogie, and Harold R. for the comments. Yogie, it has a fast hitch, the lever is for the draft control for that, maybe you knew, the first fast hitches had a lever there, not the newer crank, I guess it was. Not sure just when they changed to the crank adjustment. This Cub has done a lot of mowing over the years.

Welcome from the Show-Me State, Glen. Thanks for sharing your family's Cub with us. You know, there's nothing sweeter looking than a Cub in its "work clothes." Looks like you take of it very well and it performs for you in return.

Since you have much experience with Cubs, if you see questions posted on the forum that you can answer, please don't hesitate to post a response.

Again, welcom to the forum!

Hi,
Thanks Stanton for the welcome! We had a 1949 Farmall Cub before we got the 1956 in the picture. Our family had relatives that lived in Missouri in the 1800's, I think. Glen.

Old thread but just gotta add that that's a nice looking Cub and a family connection too 8) , has the right combination of wear and tear and shows that it was well maintained over the years very nice :!: Probly not too common to have a Cub in Washinton state , here in NY state if your out and about Cubs are not hard at all to spot , mostly in a worn and fogotten condition .
