Grandpa's 1956? LoBoy Tractor

Postby BrokeTractorNut » Tue Nov 28, 2017 1:18 pm

Started work on my Grandpa's tractor again recently. I bought it last year from a family friend. He bought it from the person who acquired my Grandfather's farm, including the tractor. My grandpa did a 'farmer's restoration about 20 years ago. So it needs a lot of work. So far I have sealed a gas tank leak, installed a new battery, plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, points, and manifold to carb gasket. It runs, not great though. Carb probably needs rebuilt.

That's great that you got your grandpa's tractor. Are you planning a full restore?

If you decide to rebuild the carb, then I'd recommend McDonald Carb & Ignition. Identify the carb on your tractor and then contact them for their premium kit.

Looks like I have the IH carb. I hope to do a full restoration with my boys at some point. It's going to be a while as I currently have a number of other priority projects. I will do maintenance and repair things that need repaired for now. Like the brake pedal on one side is going all the way down and the hitch attachment quit going up and down.

Check under the platform to see if the spring is missing. There should be springs for both brake pedals and the clutch pedal.
