Cool! Those triples were rocket ships!! I took a ride on a 500 back in the day and it was scary fast. I love those vintage bikes too. I've got a few vintage projects too. One is a 1966 Bultaco Metralla, see below:
I also have a 1974 250 Penton Hare Scrambler that is in need of restoration, but it won't happen this year.
This is a 1976 250 Penton MC5 that I redid and raced in AHMRA motocross races:
Post some pictures of your triples, I'd love to see them.

Nice pictures. I like the low bars on it. I don't remember seeing many 400cc versions. I remember some 350cc (a friend of mine had a red one), lots of 500's and a few 750's. My nephew recently bought a 250cc triple and I don't ever remember seeing one of those.
I get Motorcycle Classics magazine and in the last issue, Jan./Feb. 2011, there is a nice article on the H1. I'm sure that once you get it on the road, it will draw a crowd where ever you go.
It should be a great drag bike. The article mentioned above, said that stock it would run about 12.8 in the 1/4 mile. With 60 hp and only 400 lbs, it is a rocket ship!! With a little porting, pipes and carb work, as well as stripping it down a bit might get it into the 11's if you can hang on!!
I hope to have my Bultaco on the road this year sometime. We'll see.

Those were hot bikes back in the day and highly sought after today because, yes, they are still hot today!
A rocket ship.

Yep they were hot rods
the 69 H1 was the original super bike along with the 69 CB750 , the H1 could hang right with the CB750 even though it was 250 cc's less, collectors /enthusiast of these old two stroke triples tend to be an older group 45 and up the young guys have their modern ridiculously fast super bikes, back in 1978 I saw a 75 Kawasaki H1 on the show room floor used but mint 900 dollars I had to pass instead I bought a 77 KH400 and thats where my triple two stroke fascination started I am happy to finally get an H1 after this I need a Suzuki GT750 Water Buffalo

This is my other bad habit. 1974 850 Norton Commando.
Picture taken after I bought it in 1991. I am third owner.
It will still run faster than I need to go.

Wow, RAS, SWEET Norton!!
Norton's have always been my favorite British bike. When I was a kid, about 16, I worked at a grocery store stocking shelves and bagging groceries, one of the kids that worked with me had a Commando (he must have been paid better than me), while I rode a Honda CL175. I always thought his Norton was so cool.
I work now with a guy that has one as a project at his house. I doubt he will ever get it finished. By the way, his name is James L. Norton, for real!!

I picked up a barn fresh 84 husqvarna 250wr in near excellent running condition. I have two husqvarna bikes in parts a 82 430cr and a 80 420. Just some restorations I can sit and play with.
I'm thinking of another 1250cc Suzuki bandit in the spring. Maybe a XL Honda 650L dual sport to ride and putt the country roads.
