1955 Chevy

Postby Motorhead » Sun Nov 06, 2011 10:54 pm

One of my other toys. I've had this since 1972. When I bought it, it was a dull metallic blue, headers, 4 speed, mags, a 301 running on 7 cylinders but all the stock trim was there. It now runs a 327 with 283 fuelie heads, turbo 350 with shifter kit and a Holley. I don't drive it much anymore, but I'm storing it for my son who is an Army Major and wants it when he gets out, another 7 years.

Man, Nice car. Most people are crazy for the '57s (and rightly so), but I've always prefered the '55s front grill and rear end. Beautiful.

Of all the classic Chevys the 55 is my favorite! Based on your description of the drive train I would imagine this one is quite a sleeper!

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

My first car was a 1955 chevy bel-air sports coupe. It was black with red and white roll and pleated seats, with chrome head liner bars. It had the stock 265 v8 with 3 speed trans. I bought the car off a used car lot for $395.00. That was in 1966, I was 18 yrs old. Boy do I wish I had that car back in the condition it was in then. Come to think of it I would like to be in the condition I was in then too.
