My Dad, Leon, on the seat and my Grandfather, Meddie, pouring water into the radiator. The one and only tractor my Grandfather owned.

From M.J. Garreau farm ledger.
Bought tractor of Geo. Jergins & Sons, Carrol (Iowa). Feb 13 - 1937.

Amount of tractor $1264.20.
That is probably the the cost of the tractor which sold some where between $650 and $700- and some attachments. Tractor had a belly mounted sickle bar mower and front mounted 2 row cultivator. A tractor drawn manure spreader may have been included in the package.
Traded in on tractor.
Team of mules value $450-
Black mare babe $150-
Yearling colt $100-
2 cows $100-
2 row cultivator + gang plow $25-

Great picture!

Do you have any idea on where the tractor is now?

Thanks for sharing,

Yup. In the shed at the acreage.

There is another posting on the tractor about 10 or 12 topics below this one.

Great picture Eugene! I love looking at those old farm related pictures.

The tires are the same type as my Grandpa had on his '37 John Deere A (see below). I think they were BFG's.
