I bought a 1950 Super A this past week end.
HELP ME I HAVE OLD TRACTOR DISEASE!
The left final drive was leaking this creamy goo. The transmission is also full of said creamy goo. I am trying to pull the final drive off but can't seem to pull the drive away from the tractor. I pulled off the following; fender, tire, drawer bar, brake rod and all the bolts around the face of the final drive. I can pull the drive about two inches or so away and can see the brake band but something is holding on.

try turning the axle a little, the brake band may be binding on the drum. the goo is probably coming form an over full tranny (water /oil mis) rather than the final drive.

I have done a lot of work on the A this weekend. She is in pretty good shape. Has not been maintained at all just used but I will take care of that. I am going to do a rattle can paint job. Can't spend a lot of time working on the A now, I have to put it to work.
