Our condolences to the whole family. Although Dan and I haven't yet met in person, we shared dozens of phone/skype conversations and countless email's/pm's over the past 4 or 5 years. He was a friend and someone I respected immensely. He was an educator for sure and he taught me many things that will benefit my writing and my research for the rest of my life. He was a mentor to me and to so many others on the forum. I feel privileged to have known him.

I knew that he wasn't well and that in the last few months I felt with the tone of his posts that things were not progressing as he had hoped. I felt honoured to be someone whom he would confide some things in. He always made me feel very comfortable and a friend.

This passage has always given me peace and helped a lot when my Dad passed, my hope is that it may provide some peace for you and the family.

May the Lord bless you, and keep you;
May the Lord make His countenance shine upon you, and be gracious to you;
May the Lord turn His countenance to you and grant you peace. (+)

You are all in our prayers.

I had the privilege of knowing only electronically over the past several years. Dan went above and beyond in providing much needed parts for Roland. Additionally, he sent me a great deal of small cub parts at NO CHARGE to be either used on my cubs to get them going or to keep them "in stock" in case a member has a need. I have honored Dan's request several times in the past year and have sent these parts along to other members who have found themselves in need. Although I have never met the man in person, I am a better person for having met him electronically. He will be missed!!

I knew Dan for several years and consider him one of the finest individuals I've ever met. He helped me acquire several implements and a host of parts over the years. We met on numerous occasions. My Dad joins me in sending our condolences to you and your family. Take comfort in knowing that he's in a better place with no suffering. He was a pillar of honesty and integrity for this tractor forum, and I'm sure for the whole England family. May God bless you and your family.

I met Dan at the Tumble, and then two years ago visited him to pick up some Cub Express parts. We had a catfish dinner across the river and an enjoyable chat at his house. I'm sure sorry to hear that we have lost him.

Dear family,

We are saddened to hear of your loss, and grateful that you shared your father with us for all these years. Your father was universally respected and liked on this forum, both for his thoughtful subjects of conversation, and for his respectful and gracious nature which transcended the boundaries of our internet format. He will be missed, but remembered fondly.

Dan and I exchanged a good many late night or early morning conversations about a broad variety of subjects, all thoughtful and sincere. I still have one message he sent me over three years ago; where out of the blue, Dan offered a compliment that is still meaningful to me, and for which I will remember him always.

Perhaps the most meaningful record we have of your father's character, is the thoughtful and courageous way he dealt with his health and considered your future without him. Rest assured, you all meant the world to your father, your well-being was foremost in his mind. And while you are undoubtedly suffering great sadness as you move through this difficult time, search thoroughly for the fondest and most cherished memories you can muster, and seal them now in your heart. And that will see you through this time in a way that will honor him and all he meant to each of you.

Fondly and in Dan's memory,

Charles Russell--Corky

Like many others here on the forum, I never had the opportunity to know Dan personally, but I've always had the utmost respect for him, due to his outstanding presence here. May the family take great pride & comfort in the knowledge that he touched so many lives in such a positive way.
