It is with a sad heart that I must share with you all the news of the passing of our friend and fellow Cub lover, Albert "Albie" Badaracco, from the Pittsburgh, Pa area, last Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
Albie was 83.
He certainly will be missed at the Cubfests...I know he made a large impact on my life in the short time that we were friends.
His obituary is at this link http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/postgazette/obituary.aspx?n=albert-a-badaracco&pid=151009636&fhid=6752

Please keep his family in your prayers during this time.

I was very honored when Albie contacted me a couple years back when he was getting back into Cubs. He said he wanted to make sure he attended the Bash. Very few of the newer members know that Albie was the originator of the Cub workshops. Of course we now know those workshops as Cubfests. He always joked that he was so old he wouldn't buy green bananas. He was a great guy and will be sadly missed.

Thanks for letting us all know.

Some of my best memories of cubfests is the time I spent with Albie at the Tug and again at Cubfest NE. We had many conversations over the phone and be email discussing Cubs, carburetors and life in general. He will surely be missed. RIP Albie.

I went to the website Dave linked to and expressed my sympathies. If you knew Albie, knew of him, or even just attended a Cubfest it may be a good gesture to let his family know that his Cub Family remembers him also.

Although I never met Albie, he and I did exchange PM's and emails a lot and he was instrumental along with George Willer in encouraging me to host the very first Cubfest outside of Ohio .. CubFest Northeast 2004. Albie has always been a source of encouragement for me and I will miss his advice.

Rest in Peace Albie (+)

Albie was a true friend and supporter of this hobby. He and I had lots of conversations. I am glad he had the chance to see how his idea of a few cub lovers getting together for a day of shop time and sharing of knowledge blossomed into what we all enjoy today at the various CubFests across the country. I asked him one day if he ever dreamed that it would grow into what it has. He was extremely pleased to see how it had developed.
One of my favorite memories of him was when he sat down in his shop at the second Cub Workshop and played his accordian for us.
Rest in Peace my friend! You have earned it.

My sincere thanks to George Willer for fowarding me this photo:
