Greetings All. I am John (papajohn) from eastern North Carolina. I grew up and was raised on a tobacco farm. My family has retired from farming and I live on the family farm. I learned how to wrench on tractors and equipment beginning as early as 14 years old, early 80s, and that experience has carried over through the years.
We had two Farmall's on the farm when I was much younger, a 140 and a Super A. I restored that SA back in the mid-90s. The 140 got sold in the early 80s but we kept the SA until late 90s when a local gent bought it from my uncle, after I restored it. I should have talked my uncle out of selling.
It was only in the late 70s when we started two-row farming, Until then everything was done with the SA and 140, one row at the time on 44 inch rows.
I am working on another SA now that we bought a couple months ago to use in the garden. It was in rough shape when we got it with nearly every oil seal leaking and a lot of "field" repairs, but it cranks and runs great. I am in the final stages of getting it garden ready. I may go through the engine next winter; not that I think it needs a rebuild, but what the hey. Easy to work on and will give me something to do. I may paint it...maybe later own, or just keep it as a rat-rod.
I found this site when looking for Super A parts. I will probably do more lurking and maybe some posting in the SA specific forum. I have found a wealth of knowledge on this site and a passion for Farmalls. Glad to be a member.

Re: New Member from Eastern NC
Welcome, from another NC-er (Chapel Hill)!!
I currently have 6 cubs, but until a few years ago, I also had a '48 SA, that I spent almost 1 year restoring. Unfortunately, it just didn't get used enough, so I sold it. I hope you have fun with yours!
Quite a few folks here DO have SA's, so if you have questions, just ask!
