Proud and Thankful New Cub Owner

Postby Preacher » Sun Apr 13, 2008 9:56 pm

I like so many others, have fond memories of my childhood days and sitting on the strongest smartest lap of anyone I knew (my granddad) while he farmed his fields with a little red farmall cub tractor. I recently purchased a 61' according to the serial number and it has been a dream come true for me to finally own one.
I would like to say a very big thanks to all who have made this site and to Rudi for making all the information available that he has via the web. I have over the last 5 weeks used these sites and your postings to get my cub in decent running shape. I have overhauled the final drives, and worked out many bugs using all the postings, with the fuel system, timing, electrical, etc. and I could not have done it without all of you. So again I say thanks!
I managed yesterday to break up about an acre of ground using my 152 disk plow for a garden that we hope to plant soon, and I must say that it was very satisfying, not to mention just down right fun!
I am in no way a perfectionist, nor a purist, and neither is my cub. The seireial number shows a 61' like I said, and the hood is not. The truth be told I will probably never restore it to it's origianl condition, but it is still a cub. And I do plan to refurbish it. I see what all the attraction is to these little machines, they are just plain ole fun to own and operate.
I have met and dealt with some of the greatest and nicest folks since I bought my cub. Don Eicher, his wife and brother in law Jerry from DE Farmall Cubs, and Tom and Lynn from TM Tractor parts have all been a great help and pleasure, and to them I say a special thanks.

I own a 51 Ford 8N that has been completely restored, and a Kubota L3830 that I do most of the work with around the place, but I can honestly say this little red cub will be my pride and joy. I work two jobs and this is just what the doctor ordered for a great way to relieve stress.

I look forward to chatting with, and maybe meeting some more great folks because of such a great common interest.

Regards, and best wishes from Louisiana

Preacher:

Welcome to the forum. I guess you have already found most of the stuff.. :applause: You have been a busy one now haven't you :big smile:

I am really glad that the manuals and all have been so useful. It is my passion, these Cubs and the info needed to keep em going. It is an addiction.

Now, I am going to post the welcome wagon, cause..

Rudi wrote:Image to Farmallcub.com :big smile: Forum Family. And you have come to the right place for all things Cub related. If you click on the Site Rules, Regulations, & Important Information, it will point you to  the Welcome Wagon wherein you will find links to many useful sites and topics. One of which is the Cub Manual Server where you will find a bunch of really useful links.

it will be a good quick reference for you. In the Cub Book of Knowledge there are the links to help you post pictures... and here they are:

[*] How To Do Neat Stuff in a Post! is a good first step, explains a lot. Then choose which host you wish to use. The CubFest Photo Host is the best choice in my opinion, however there are many out there.

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the best darned forum on the whole www, Preacher! Some of the best people I have ever met and many that I have not yet had the pleasure post right here to these pages. One word of warning, though...repeated use of this site may make you succumb to the urge to buy MULTIPLE cubs!!! :{_}: :{_}:

Congrats on your cub!
