What a great site!

I have lived in western Pa with Cubs most of my life. (I'm 58)
As long as I can remember, (1953, 54) my Dad had a Cub.
The first was used exactly as it was designed for. To replace horses on the farm. That Cub was a great, hard-working machine.
After the farm was gone, he got a second one for his gardens. He had 3 gardens totalling, maybe, 1.5 acres. He babyed that one a lot more.
His second is still in his garage, unused for at least 20 years since before his passed on.
With my mom's recent passing, I am in the process of moving to the old homestead.
I've been eyeing the old Cub with the intent of putting it to work.
I have plows, cultivators, harrows, cutter bar mower and a back blade.
Since it had been untouched for so long, I put the crank in the front with trepidation, fearing the pistons would be frozen.
I was delighted that it turned easily and hoped getting it started would be easy, too. Once I put some new fluids.
When I couldn't get it to fire, I had a buddy who is more mechanically inclined take a look.
Although there may be other issues, we found 2 stuck valves, which is my biggest concern at the moment.
Looking for info is how I found this great site.
My Dad did all the stuff with "his" tractor so I never learned to change the implements.
What I realized, today, is the link this Cub has to my past. Wonderful childhood, simple times and a good life.

, but the tractor I purchased is one that my father-in-law designed and built by himself. This is a family heirloom to my mind, along with our other putt-putt.. and it is in the same category like yours. Yours also is a family heirloom and the chance to care, operate and simply enjoy is well, rare. You are but one of a very small priviledged group. Welcome, and glad you are around.
