Farmall Cub

Hi all,

I brought my first Cub home today. I have to admit I know next to nothing about these tractors but I sure do like them.
I grew up on a farm around 8N's, Fordson's and Red Bellies. We did have one Farmall, a 40 model M and later an International 444 that my brother still uses around his house.

This little Cub is going to help mow my four acres and expand my garden next year. It needs a few odds and end things done to it so I'm sure I'll be asking some questions (hopefully they won't be too dumb). Along with it I got a belly mower, sickle mower, scrap blade, cultivators, corn planter and fertilizer spreader. A lot of this stuff I don't even know how to put on yet.

You have found the perfect use for your tractor...mowing acreage as well as gardening...

No, and I mean NO question is too dumb to ask...just look at me...if I can get away with the numbskull questions I ask, you can certainly do no worse!!

Thanks guys for the warm welcome! I've been looking around here a lot this afternoon and my brain is about to explode. You guys know your stuff!

There was no serial number plate on my tractor so I can only go by the engine casting numbers but they say she was built in May of 1952 (5-16-X). She's older than I am!!

Well you are in luck cause almost all of these implements are covered in the Owner's Manuals on the Cub Manual Server in the pointer text below. Wow Nice haul. The Service Manuals, Part's Catalog's and other resources are all there, so have a read and enjoy.

I already know what you mean John. I took the back cultivators off and put the draw bar on last night. Nothing to it, but 92 degree heat and 85% humidity will make any job tougher.

I also have one of those "green" garden tractors and was tempted to buy a three point hitch for it and add these toys. But it would be the same thing. It's easier to have a tractor for each implement so I can just jump on it and do what I need to do. It's called working smart, right guys?

Now if I can just convince my wife of that!

I think you got the right idea on the multi-cub thing. That's the way I do it. Maybe I can help you convince the wife. Somehow I convinced mine.
