Just got my first Cub '1959'
Hello Fellow members, Thanks to Rudi for the invitation to join the Farmall Cub.com site. Live in North West Ga.. Enjoy playing in the dirt, growing gardens, etc. My cub has been sitting for about 8 years, tires dry rotted, gas in the tank jelled, oil thick, and of course it want start. Being a mechanic in not my best skill, but I'll try anything. So here I go working on this cub. I will need help. Thanks in advance.

Oldfarm, Welcome to the best Forum on the internet. Rudi will be along with his formal welcome soon. You might want to spend some time browsing through the blue tool bar above. You'll find a wealth of information there. As you work on your Cub, feel free to ask any question you might have. I hope you enjoy your Cub as much as the rest of us do ours

Re: Just got my first Cub '1959'
Thanks for your greetings, I need to manually raise the hydraulic lift. The lift arm on the left side has the oil cap covered and I can't remove it. I have tried to use a wrench with cheater pipe, removed the filler plug in hydraulic tank, I couldn't move it to stay. Any suggustion?

Now, nothing seems to be in a bind. I don't have strength to overcome the hydraulic cylinder. of course when I get it running the lift should work some, maybe? Is there a check valve I could easily unhook?

Oldfarm, it looks like you live in Carrolton. I have a friend from school named Mike Poss who is a doctor there. Richard Mix is a good friend that is involved in making movies in Carrollton. He is also involved with the Dukes of Hazzard events.
There is also a big tractor auction the weekend after Thanksgiving. I am hoping to attend this year's auction.

Hi John C., Don't really know your friends, have hear of Nix thou. Yes the farm equipment auction is one of the largest in the south, now, they come from all over and just cover the hills over there. I went once, just to crowded and stuff goes high, Mr. Odem has old equipment and tractors for sell all the time.

Oldfarm, Welcome to the forum. I live in Gillsville, Ga. over near Gainesville. If you can make it try and come on down to the Lukbke Christmas Cubfest in Woodstock. I believe it will be on Dec. 5th this year. There will be some Great food and you would get to meet some of the guys too!

Re: Just got my first Cub '1959'
Hi Ron, Thanks for the info about the Cubfest, Yes, I would enjoy this. Where in Woodstock? And what is the starting time? Oh, I like the poem in tribute to your Cub. There is a long story about the one I have, it has some history. Of, course antiques are important to us, we had an antique store for a while. I have my g'dad's two horse wagon, by dad's old blacksmith shop, and several old mule drawn picies of equipment that i used growing up on the farm. Let me know more about this event.
