New Guy from Kansas

Postby Uncle Buck » Sun Jan 17, 2010 11:01 pm

I joined this site because I love IH Cub tractors, and I have wanted one since I was a kid! I have joined this site thinking that I might begin loooking around and see if I might find a Cub I could afford in close proximity to me. At any rate, I look forward to spending a little time here.

Welcome buck! You came to the right place. Mule Boss lives about an hour from you in Burligton so you have somebody close who can give you first hand help. The folks here will be able to answer any of your questions.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Image to Farmallcub.com :big smile: Forum Family. And you have come to the right place for all things Cub related. If you click on the Site Rules, Regulations, & Important Information, it will point you to  the Welcome Wagon wherein you will find links to many useful sites and topics. One of which is the Cub Manual Server. Enjoy!.

I would suspect that if you scour the Classifieds here, as well as craigslist, :eBay:, your local penny saver etc., that you just may find that particular Cub that will fit your budget. But be forewarned, Cubitis is a very contagious condition and it can be easily diagnosed by the insatiable need to have not just one Cub but as many as you can possibly squeeze into your barn/yard/ etc... :D

Man, you boys are on the job! You all keep an eye peeled for the newbie's don't ya! I really have an itch to get one of these Cubs. I tried to quell that desire with Wheel Horse garden tractors, but they have not done the trick. I have three Horses, one is rebuilt, one is an older rebuild, but now needs a replacement engine, and the third is one of the Suburban's from around 1961 and it still needs everything. At any rate, I think I might need to unload all the Horses then get me a Cub.

I noticed that one one your flock was within a stones throw of me to the south.

So for you old timers here, do Cubs show up for sale in the Topeka area on the board from time to time?

Welcome!

As noted above, Muleboss is near Burlington and I'm in Emporia. Muleboss is host to Kansas Cubfest and I try to help out. This year Kansas Cubfest will be May 1. Cub ownership not required to attend. :) If you would like, I imagine the three of us could get together for before then. Muleboss has quite a collection of Cubs to tantalize you!

I would like that very much. I would gladly meet in either town on a Saturday, or Sunday afternoon. Of course, anything involving tractors requires that my seven yr old son go along, he is crazy about trains and farm tractors. All the kids are invited to go to the local tractor shows with me, but mainly my son goes with me to McClouth and Ottawa annually at least. I always fit anything else I can along the way as much as possible.

At any rate, I really want to buy one of these tractors, but I have a lot preventing it right now. However, I would be quite interested in learning anything you guys might want to share about Cubs for now. Also, I would jump at the chance to stand around and drool at Muleboss's collection. Just let me know, any old time would do.

Uncle Buck,

Welcome to the forum! As I am sure you have already found out, there is tons of knowledge, lots of good information and reading and an army of people to help out if you need anything. I love the old garden tractors as well, the Wheelhorses are real neat (I have a '63 Springfield). Heck they are simple to work on and don't take much room to store them.

I don't see many Cubs in that area, I spend alot of time in NE and they are pretty scarce there. (my mom's family is from about 115 miles nw of you in the Wymore, NE area) Keep an eye out in the Cubs for sale, as well as the Cub vine sections on this forum, you never know what might show up. :?:

Enjoy the ride,
David
