Greetings from Michigan!

Hi everybody! I have several tractors but bought my first Cub ('57 LoBoy) on ebay this past fall. Not a perfect experience as I took a lot on faith from the seller. A "cosmetic only" dent in the gas tank turned out to be a caved in gas tank and certain parts listed in the auction were missing and supposed to be shipped...but they never turned up. Seemed like such a nice old couple too! The tractor is otherwise in very nice condition and the engine turns over but it does not start. It is my first project for the Spring and I am looking forward to it. I have accumulated most parts I need including a fast hitch. It originally had one at some point but most of it is gone. It all started when we decided to replace the rear mower deck we use on the 1520 with a ZTR mower. To do our property and get any kind of life from the mower I would have to buy a pretty nice one and that was going to set me back a lot of money. So I discussed it with my wife and came up with the plan of getting the Cub. Having already lasted 50+ years and being relatively easy to work on, it seemed a good choice and fit in well with my interests. It will do a good enough job and make it fun for me at the same time. This site has a lot of great info and I look forward to posting my troubles from time to time and, hopefully, finding the answers I will inevitably need. I will try to get a picture in the Spring when it is uncovered and ready to go in the shop. Really is a very nice little tractor.

Dave:

I have a JD L-111 to do the small stuff in my yard.. the front lawn and the area around my vines and such in side yard. To do the rest will require Ellie and the C-2 which still needs restoring - although I just made a deal to acquire some badly needed parts :{_}: But you are right, a Cub is a pretty good lawn mower among other things. Better seat time than any of the ridem's.

If you click on the Site Rules, Regulations, & Important Information, it will point you to  the Welcome Wagon wherein you will find links to many useful sites and topics. One of which is the Cub Manual Server. Enjoy!.

Welcome to the Forum Dave,

Too bad about the ebay problem, you never know! :? As noted, the site sponsors are first rate, you won't have any bad experiences if you use them. :big afro:

Best of luck,

Ebay, or any auction can be tricky. But they do offer guarantees.... if the item is not as described for example. Could be worth looking into.

Did it come with a mower?

Go Blue!
