New guy with an old tractor

Hi, I'm new to the forum, not really a tractor hobbyist but trying to help my Mom out. She has an International Cub, bought new in 1968 or 69, which she is no longer able to use--she just turned 89, I finally convinced her she's too old to get on it! She now thinks she might want to sell it, but neither she nor I have any idea what it's worth. I'll browse the want ad section here and see if I can get a feel for what's reasonable, but I figured it couldn't hurt to go ahead and introduce myself and explain why I'm here.

The tractor is shown in the attached picture. It last ran a couple of years ago but wasn't charging the battery. Since the battery was then fairly new, I suspect a generator or VR problem. The motor is good, no idea how many hours on it, but it's been primarily a lawn mowing machine for its entire life. The mower deck is pretty rusty and the whole thing could use a good steam cleaning, but I think it's basically sound.

I've got a couple of other pictures, too large to post but I could send them to anybody that expresses an interest.

The tractor is located near Hammond, Louisiana. I'm in Texas and don't get back to see Mom as often as I'd like, so I'm trying to help her from a distance.

Any feedback regarding the value of this machine would be very welcome!

Tom, Welcome to the Forum. Gary Boutwell lives in Hammond and just had a Cubfest (get together for Cub owners) at the start of the month. I'm sure he'll be along shortly and may be able to take a look at your tractor and give you a good idea of value. Feel free to post any other questions you might have.

Tom:

Well that certainly shows how some are really attached to their Cubs  89 years young and still wanting to mow the grass.. :!: amazing. Gary should be able to help your mom out as he is close and has been involved with Cubs for many years, he does know Cubs well. I hope you can find a good home for your Mom's Cub.

In the meantime there is some good info below just in case you wish to browse...
