Howdy, my name is Landon Howard and I'm just some oilfield trash from South MS. I'm 30 years old and I'm a Christian. I have a wonderful wife and 2 healthy boys, 8 and 3 years of age. I was recently given my late Nanny & PaPaws Cub tractor and I'm excited. She does run but she needs a little TLC. I think she may be a 52 model, based on the first reseach I did on her tonight, that I found on this site. I plan on working her in the garden as well as dressing her up a little. I would like to keep her as original as I can. Right now I know she needs her seat recovered, a new grill, and some rear tires. When I got her she had a 12v battery but I was told she originally worked with a 6v system. I welcome the do's and don'ts and I'll take all the tips anyone may throw my way.

WELCOME to the forum.

If you still have the generator, VR, coil etc. it shouldn't take much to bring back to 6v. If not, then the most reliable and least expensive way to go would be the 12v 1 wire alternator. Properly done, they are just about bullet proof and you can make the changeover without cutting the hood. Sounds like it'll be a working tractor so that might be your best bet.

Landon:
Congrats on inheriting your Grandparent's Cub. They are some of the most special.. ones that have been in the family for generations. I think you will like it here. Plenty of great folks and there are many in your area. In fact there are a couple of CubFests in your neck of the woods that you would do well to attend with your bride and the boys if you can manage it. Remember

- we are picture junkies...

Landon,
Welcome to the fourm! Spend some time surfing around the various sections and you will find a wealth of information. Don't be shy, post any questions you may have.
I see you are just east of Laurel, I spent about 5 months there in the early 80's when the Kroger store first opened. It was a nice area, I liked the "small town" feeling you got there.
Best of luck with your Cub,
