Farmall Cub

Hi I am still in the process of looking trying to find the right cub. It is a slow process as there seems ther are not to many left to by in my area. I live in Colchester, CT. The ones I have looked at in CT. seem to be over priced compared to what I have seen on this forum. Could be just the area? The cubs I saw at Zagrays farm last week were fine examples of cubs running so smooth and quiet that it made me want one even more! I am looking for one for mowing and yard dutys. I will be checking in every so offen and posting up once I find the "right one"

Welcome to the forum.
I can't say that we met last weekend at Zagray but we may have.
You will discover that Cubs very in price by region and time of year, and what comes with them.
Keep an eye on Ebay, Craigslist, and in the For Sale forum. Don't rule out the possibility of getting one in another state. PA, NY, NJ, have quite a few Cubs.

Thanks, I may have talked to you I talked to several guys.I have been looking at a few,I really want one with a mower. I have no problems fixing anything so if the right one pops up........well you know.

Welcome to the Forum! Seems like everything is more expensive here in Connecticut... but if you are patient you will find the right Cub. There is a Forum member named Stick in Orange, CT that had some Cubs for sale a while back. You might try sending him a PM.

They are just plain expensive in New England. Even though they are also plentiful.

Buying at a distance has many disadvantages too.

All that said, I did list one on craigslist today.... still has a mower on it, but the mower is being sold separately.

Thanks for all the kind words, My friend knew of a cub that has been sitting,so we went and looked at it today, 1955 super "A" at least thats what the owner says he can't be sure,The main seal leaks pretty good so much there is a pan under it, needs front tires,the steering arm on the left side is loose, smokes on starting then settles down.runs smoothly. left rear rim has a dent in it. Wiring needs cleanup.grille is gone.

It is sitting in a barn for a long time 6 years.the owner put diesel in the fuel tank and filled the carb before it was put away.He cleaned all the diesel out and he said it started right up.I was suprised it ran so well after sitting. How much work is involved in puttting a rear main in. I know the tractor has to be broken in half.How much more should I look for?

Asking price is $900.00 it needs some work but most of it is cosmetic. The rear main is the only big thing. I think

Hi,
I got an original Cub from a friend of mine. The Kohler motor was destroyed beyond repair. I trucked it home and sanded the paint to find the model number. Paul (moderator) informed me it was made in 1961. I would like to keep it as original as I an.

Rear main seal counts a big job because you have to split the tractor. That means the hood and tank comes off, I can tell you that starts the mushroom theory into motion.

A's are nice tractors, but when it comes to implements and parts, Cubs are much easier to deal with. No Ralph or TM tractor for those!
