Farmall Cub

I'm a new guy who just joined this site, and I wanted to say Thank You for all of the collective information! I just put some money down on a sweet Farmall Cub. It has been owned for many years by an old friend now aged 89, and recently he decided to sell it to me. I've never owned a Farmall before, but I confess I am deeply interested! Each time I visited his barn, he took great pride in starting the Cub, and idling it down so smooth. We'd just stand there and smile and listen to that little Tractor purrrrrr........... like a little swiss watch! I don't know all that much about the details yet, it appears to be a mid-50's model, and has some cultivators and hydraulic lift, no mower. It apears to have had a gentle life-- the paint is original and is in great shape. It has always started and run beautifully. I am planning to simply enjoy it as a collectible, and maybe pull a small wagon for hayrides in the fall. I will probably complete the sale and bring it home next week, and as soon as i do, I will post some photos and ask for everyone's best advice. I have enjoyed classic cars for years, we own a 67 Mustang Convertible and a 53 Mercury Custom Sedan. The Farmall will likely stay in the barn with the Mercury, they'll grow to be great friends I'm sure!

Steve, glad you found a Cub you like. I 've been through your area many times over the years on our annual trip to Mears for our annual 4th of July vacation. We haven't made it the past few years and we sure miss those sand dunes.

If you like to travel a lttle you may want to check out the Buckeye Cub Tug next weekend. It is almost a six hour drive but if you get a room and spend the weekend like the rest of us you will meet a great bunch of Cub owners.

Steve, Isn't it a pleasure to just listen to these little tractors sit at idle? Mine is a '49, and I'm always just blown away that it still purrs as well as it does. Life is good in Cub World--Welcome.
