Hi guys Adam here,
just wanted to say nice to meet you all in advance. I just acquired my grandfathers 48 cub. My father and I very excited about getting her back out and putting her to work. My father grew up on this tractor as a boy. It has been in his fathers garage for the past 15 years untouched. Last monday I syphoned out the old fuel, drained the pet cock and put in a new 6 v batt. Pulled the choke and starter rod ........ and........... :{_}: 3 revolutions is all it took  :{_}: she sat there and idled just as nice as can be. No skips no misses just perfection. I about fell over. Now I'm going to change all fluids and paint her up. My grandfather had painted her and re decaled (water transfer) long before I was ever born and I'm currently 33. She has always been in the garage and I think she is in great shape. Thanks for listening. I'll send pics when I figure it out
Adam

Adam - welcome to the forum. Family tractors are always a treasure. I hope you can make it to Cecil's.
One thing - If you did not check the oil pressure take a look at the gauge to make sure that you do indeed have pressure. After sitting that long it is not uncommon for the oil pump to lose it's prime.

WOW guys thanks for the warm welcome, looking forward to meeting you all. I was thinking of bringing the cub and the implements. We're not sure as to what we even have. When my grandfather bought the tractor it came with a bunch of stuff ( sickle bar mower, left & right plows, center drop cultivators-3 pice, pto belt drive adaptor and snow plow) !! The only thing's they ever used were the snowplow and the right side plow. My dad told me that when the tractor came home (day they bought it) all the other implements went into the root cellar for storage. We don't know how to hook them up or if we are even missing things to hook them up with. When I went to get the tractor guess where everything was..... yup ..root cellar, hadn't seen the light of day in how many years ????? I love the history here. :) I don't need to actually need hook the stuff up, would just like some input.
P.S. thanks for the heads up on the oil pressure. I had my eye on it during the start up process and she jumped right up there within a matter of seconds. :-:-): :{_}: MAN I LOVE THIS TRACTOR
Thanks again
Adam
