Hi everyone, I bought a tractor the other day. I've never owned one, I've never even driven one. But, ever since I was a kid, I thought they were great. I have grown up fixing and restoring cars and motorcycles. I have always found the simple, robust mechanical nature of older tractors to be appealing. I have looked at tractors for sale locally many times, but have always talked myself out of it because I have no real need for one, I couldn't really make up a need. One came up for sale not far from my house a couple of weeks ago. I have always liked the Farmall line and I have been looking at Cubs and A's. I looked at it several times. My wife finally told me to go get it. It's a 49'. It runs and appears to be almost complete, came with a couple of boxes of parts and the original manual and paper work. The gentleman I bought it from took it on a trade from the family of the original owner and hadn't had it for very long. I got it for the fair (I think) price of $800. I looking forward to restoring it. Maybe I will drive it in the local parade. Thanks, Paul

Thanks for the response everyone. I spent some time this morning making a list of things to do. I think I might do a complete rebuild instead of just trying to clean it up. Thanks again, Paul [ Post made via Android ]

Paul,
Welcome to the forum! It looks like you got a nice cub, especially for the money.
You found the right place to learn about it and get the help you may need. The site sponsors are great for parts; you can’t go wrong with them.
I suggest you enjoy the cub for a while, learn about it and take your time diagnosing what you will do with it, once the hood comes off; all bets are off as to the depth you may go!
Congratulations,
David

Welcome...
When I told my uncle I had a Cub (probably two) he said he thought of buying one years ago, just north of you. Mothers side of the family was in Marine City. Small world.
Always good to know what you have before you start doing too much. Run it around some.
