I own a 1948 Cub Completely restored as a gardening tractor. No stone was left unturned, every single piece was disassembled, sand blasted, painted, new seals and bearings installed everywhere. Engine was bored, new pistons, rods, wrist pins, valves, valve springs, head resurfaced as well as the block. Hydraulics from a later model tractor was installed replacing the manual lift. The little tractor wasn't worth rebuilding due to all the fatigued/stress cracked parts. Engine front cover, right rear axle housing, seat bracket, left rear final drive housing, floor board, throttle control, battery box, steering wheel, all replaced. Sometimes you get to a point of no return, and just have to keep moving forward. Now that it's all behind me, I don't regret it. It's a great little tractor now, and will last another 63 years. I just wish I could be rebuilt like that.(hehe) I use it to plant the garden and to plow it. That's it. Look forward to being a member here. Oh! I still need parts!

Well, sounds like you are well ahead of the issue. Congratulations on rescuing the 48 cub. Welcome to the forum and hope you enjoy it half as much as I have. And, don't believe I have the patience or funds to rescue one, but I do enjoy keeping one going.

Shooting50, Welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your Cub, it sounds like you did it right and have a machine to be proud of (how about some pictures??? ) Many of us have been there, ya take the hood off to fiddle with a thing or two and before you know it you know it inside and out! There are several good sources for new and used parts linked on this site; you can’t go wrong with the site sponsors. Put an ad in the Cub parts wanted section, a member will likely have what you need. Welcome again,
David

Welcome to the group. I agree with Raymond. get a room reserved and spend the weekend in Sneads with us. There's a lot of Cub knowledge going to be ther. CubFests are one of the best places to learn from the guys who know their stuff. Don't let the 4.5 hour drive discourage you. Many of us are coming from twice as far. Hope to see you there.
I don't believe in taking the bull by the horns. I took a goat by the horns once and that was enough excitement for me. Barnyard Bash CubFest May 31 - June 1, 2013 Click here for info.
