Farmall Cub

New to the Cub world but look forward to some fun with one I just picked up.
Into old Harley's Music and just about anything old iron.
Had a few old 8N's and 9N still have one of each.

I think my new cub ( based on what I had found for the serial number ), is a 51.

After working on Fords you will appreciate the simplicity of a Cub. I was sorta shopping for a red belly Ford with a loader, but found a Cub with a loader first so no Ford for me anytime soon. I still somewhat covet a nice 641.... but keep it a secret, I don't need any more tractors!

still messing with this beast, i work slow: )
Put the carb together today after a good cleaning but I think I will have to reset the float. I set it at 1.360 may need to grab a rebuild kit. The guy I got it from told me he put one it and all looks new bur who knows. Going to check that float hight and go from there.

I will need to order a few things so we'll see.
I'll keep everyone posted.
P.S. based on the chart here this would be a 52?
The serial number is 145779.

Welcome aboard! A word of caution, stay away from TSC (Tisco) carb kits. Check top for warping,if so can be repaired with jig. Be very careful with the idle tube, they are easy to break off. You may want to check out Lurker Carl's carb how to, and any thing about carbs by Cecil. Most carbs don't need a kit, just a gasket and some TLC. Enjoy your Cub!

It seems being on a mac there is a lot of information I do not have access to. I get a message stating "Microsoft Internet Explorer" and when I move on I see nothing.
I'm not to worried I have built a LOT of carburetors so I think some tweaks will do.
The needle seat is not dropping like it should which Leeds me to think I need a new one..

I looked it the Cub Manual Server but did not see a manual showing the attachments for lifting the cultivators, did I miss it? The square bar through the front with the attachments?

pan60, the gasket may be contacting the float. Can't help with the Mac questions, but I use an I- phone 4, still learning to navigate it. Some of the others on here can help. Go to TM's site at bottom of page and look at pix of mounted equipment. BTW, I used a Kohler Viton needle and seat, very happy with the results.

I need the left bracket that bolts to the front square bar, what would that be called?
Well I got this beast started today and man does it sound bad: ( .
rattles, knocks, squeals, sound really bad.
I shut it down, going to see if I can figure what the noise is. I don't think it is the motor.

P.s.
Re-set the float to 1.60 and still flooding. I'll mess with it more later.

If you are on a Mac then Safari will work nicely with the server. I have tested the whole server on Safari and I see all the manuals. If there is a broken link somewhere, please let me know via PM. It has been tested with IE, Opera, Safari, FireFox, Chrome and some versions of Netscape.

The one area where you might have problems is the PowerPoint presentations, although Open Office will work nicely. I guess I am going to have to update the Mac links to the PowerPoint readers. Do you have compatibility mode on a Mac?????

Oh it is there all right - Cub-144 Cultivator 11-30-50

There may be debris in the cage - even old varnish will affect the needle. That is why the orifices all have to be cleaned well. You may still need a needle if the original is damaged. The needle, seat and cage are an assembly and the individual parts are not interchangeable.



Remember unlike a lot of carbs, the IH/Donaldson carb is made from Pot Metal....

I have her running good now. The squeaks and squeals where dirt doper nests in the clutch.
I made one run through my garden seem to have plenty of power.
But the motor is knocking when the rpm's are brought up.

Are these like most motors in as far as putting new bearings in by removing the oil pan?
At idle it has 20 lbs of oil presure.

Looks like the left beam bracket is what I am needing.
The one on this is busted and repaired poorly.
Also the disc plow I have is the wrong one I believe. looks to me to be the cub-151 dick plow.
