Farmall Cub

Long story short- Ever since I can remember my Dad had a Farmall Cub, that we used for light work around our home. I rode with Dad for years....
He sold it to someone else in our area in 1988, as we were downsizing and didn't need it anymore. I was around 15 at that time....and older brother and sister were in college.
My Dad passed too early, at the age of 62, and that was in 1999.
Later, I got married in 2000, and now have three kids of my own, and wanted them to learn more about their Grandpa!
I have been looking for that tractor for years, always wondering if it was in that barn or that barn over there....
I was driving home from work a couple of Fridays ago, and there it was..(or at least I was hoping)..for sale.
As I walked up, I knew it was my Dad's.... He had bent the hood, and after pulling out the dents, he brazed the dents and filled them the best he could.

My three kids have now been able to ride there Gpa's Farmall, as its sitting in my garage.

1949, running strong..... Going to start a complete overhaul this fall, after all the hay rides my kids can handle.

Well, congrats on finding your Dad's Cub That was a lot of determination to keep looking for one particular Cub. So glad you were able to fulfill that dream. And to be able to pass down stories of your Dad to your kids via the Cub is really something to hang on to.

The pics will have to be resized. Check out this link - On The Forums. There are a number of How To's on resizing pics to fit within the forum paramaters. Suggest you get an account on the Photo Host which is a dedicated photo site for our fourms.

Welcome to the forum from Arkansas. Neat story, maybe sometime, show us a couple of pictures. Are the kids old enough to help a little in the restoration? Would make the project more fun.

What a great story! Consider yourself fortunate in finding your dad's Cub, many people search in vain for the family tractor and never find it. Glad to hear you're using it and going to keep using it and create some new family memories.

Just want you to be safe pulling anything (like a hay wagon). Cubs do not have the braking power of some other tractors, so a little weight attached to the rear combined with a slight downhill grade can be trouble.

Since you're new to the site, I'll welcome you and challenge you. You'll see a Circle Cub (round red emblem) to the right of the screen below several people's tag line. Below that are the words "Circle of Safety: Y" which means that person has passed the Circle of Safety test on this site. I'd challenge you to take that test and keep taking it until you too are awarded the Circle of Safety.

That's a real nice story. It's great you were able to find your Dads Cub. ...and you're right, 62 is far too young to pass on. The Cub will be a great way of keeping his memory close, almost a memorial to him and his way of life. Now it will be adding more lifelong memories for you and your children, that's wonderful.
