New member needs information

Postby Phillip864 » Wed Feb 15, 2017 10:13 pm

I do not have a Cub, but I do have a 140 and a Super A. The Super A was purchased a couple of years ago with a seized engine. I'm a pretty fair mechnic and thought, "shouldn't be a big deal".... Wrong. Was a big deal, number three piston was one piece with the sleeve. Ended up doing a complete rebuild and that is still in progress. My 140 is a Hy-crop. Looks a little odd but works well.
I stumbled on to this web site because I found information on a Cole planter. I am currently re-conditioning a #16 Cole planter. I say that #16 but have only the people at Covington planters (they bought out Cole) for that information. Still trying to confirm.
The planter is a duplex (selectable). Both plates rotate in the same direction (no left and right) and a lever on the back of the hopper has three positions to select left, right, or both. This planter also has a fertilizer distributor behind the seed hopper. The fertilizer distributor is adjustable for the amount applied. Just behind that are two levers that can engage/disengage either the planter portion and/or the fertilizer distributor.
I need any information that anyone might have on this type of planter. The guy I was talking to at Covington had never heard of a selectable duplex so maybe this is worth taking a little more time with. I am trying to get it ready for spring planting. I would also like to find lids for both the planter and the fertilizer hopper. The Covington guy told me the seed plates are interchangable with their planters, so I have access to plates.
Anybody out there with information. Would also like to know how many 140 Hy-crops are out there.

Regards,

Welcome to the forum!

If you don't get answers to your questions (in this "Introduce Yourself" section), you might try posting again over in the "Farmall A, Super A, AV, 100, 130 & 140" section (located here: http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=170). A lot of members who might answer are on their way down to Sneads, FL, for the first CubFest gathering of the year.
