Drawbar Dimension

Postby Jim Becker » Wed Mar 14, 2018 3:54 pm

I just got a 3-piece Super A drawbar and need some dimensions to put it together. The drawbar is made up of the main U-shaped part and a bracket at each side. The bracket should have a pin welded in place for the forward attachment of the main part. The ones I just got have a hole where the pin belongs. I can measure the holes, but don't know if I would be measuring something close to the original holes or the result of a bunch of wear.

Came somebody get me the length and diameter of an original pin?

I came up with 7/8" X 1 1/2" (hard to measure on the tractor). See if others agree.

I think I have one off the tractor. If I can get into the farm this afternoon, I'll check it out.

I agree with 2". I didn't include the thickness of the bracket.

Thanks guys. That is exactly the information I was looking for. 7/8 was my best guess on diameter and you confirmed it. I will see if I can find some 2 inches long. Fastenal's PDF drawing of that type pin has a table of different sizes that includes 7/8 x 2 but the shortest actual part they list is 2-1/2 long. I will probably end up using 7/8 x the shortest I can find.

Jim, the pin is welded into the Super A bracket the same way as the Cub bracket. I should have measured how far the pin protrudes from the bracket. I'll try to get that tomorrow.
