It is my understanding that the oil pump for both engines are the same? If so what length is the spring in the pump? I have one torn apart and have found two flat washers under the spring. I have the new gaskets for the pump. Are the washers suppose to be there or did someone add them to try and boost the pressure. I lapped the surface back smooth and I am ready to reassemble. Guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Oh yea it is for a 49 Super A.
