Farmall Super A won’t stay running when in gear or moving the hydraulic lever

Postby Shanemac1980 » Fri Jul 26, 2019 1:19 pm

I am new here, just need help with my Super A. It starts and runs fine for five to ten minutes then anytime I am in gear it will stuutter and stall. When I start it back up it starts right up and then stalls as soon as I put it in gear and release the clutch. I checked the fuel flow and it is good. I am lost as to where to go from there. Please help.

Thanks for any answers ahead of time

Shane

Have you cleaned the carb? May have trash in it.

Could be a very weak spark, just enough to make it run under no load conditions.....Start by troubleshooting either the fuel flow and carb function, or ignition system.

I drained the carb replaced the spark plug wires and the distributor cap and the internals. Now if I use the plow and it has any heavy load it stalls

Are you positive you got the correct points gap set, and it didn't change as you tightened the screw?

Are you sure the governor is kicking in correctly? And what condition are the plugs in?

I think you need to disassemble the carb and give it a good cleaning.

Thank you for all the help you were all right with the carb and fuel issue. It was a plugged screen in the tank so just blew air into it and runs like a champ. Again thank you for the help

The debris is still in the tank, and will re-appear when you least expect it. Let the debris settle. Then use a siphon to “vacuum” the debris from around the tank outlet.
