Stuck Clutch on Super AI just purchased a '53 Super A that has been in the shed for the last 15+/- yr.s, this according the the guy who I bought it from. He had bought it from a guy's estate. I have been draining and replacing fluids, etc and am getting close to trying to crank it but the clutch is stuck and I would like to get it free. Could someone tell me what is the best way to accomplish this. I have the inspection cover off but before I get carried away with a crow-bar
Thanks, GAGoober
Probably the best way to free up a stuck clutch is to split the tractor. This will give you a chance to look over and replace individual parts.
If you go to the "How To Forum" section of this board there are some suggestions of freeing up a stuck clutch. Eugene
Put it in first gear, hold the clutch pedal down and get someone to tow you with another tractor. It may break loose.
Best, Mike
Another possible solutin is to block the clutch down and spary it good with brake cleaner, and let it set ofr a while.

I have a W-12 that had a stuck clutch when I got it. I had my wife bush start me ( with another tractor) and than I drove up and down a hill with the clutch in. This works it back and forth. It took about 20 min but it came free and was fine after that.

had an 'A' from the musuem that was going to auction, so i brought in the shop to get it running and such. tried everything to free up the clutch...nada....didn't have time to split it so it went in the auction that way. had a lot of fun driving it around....
bottom line is that the clutch no doubt needs replacement anyway....soooo 'If they're tappin', they're not burnin'
