My new homebuilt 3-point hitch...

Postby allenlook » Mon May 22, 2006 2:38 pm

Finally got around to finishing up the 3-pt. hitch on the Super A. Built it mostly from parts I got from Redland Hill on eBay and from the local Tractor Supply Company, with a bunch of fabrication required for the top link mount point. I think it came out ok! Next up, the AC generator mount for the Cub - the driveshaft is complete and the pulleys are mounted, now I just need to figure out where to put it.

Looks good Allen. But you need a sway bar to keep it from moving left and right.

Looks good Allen - Like Merlin said, add a sway bar or some chains. You don't want those pretty straight arms wrapping around a tire.

Oops, I forgot to show the chains. It's hard to see them, but in the center of each lower arm is a big "U" hook already installed, and I'm making the tabs to put the chains into on the final drives. :)

Hey Allen... NICE JOB :!:  Once you get the sway chains mounted you'll have SAVED about $500.00 (the price for most after-market 3-point hitches)...NICE FEELIN' AIN'T IT :!:  Of course those "savin's" will be eaten up right away on the purchase of NEW 3-point implements, BUT...that's why you made it in the FIRST PLACE :!:

Hmmm, one question.

A lot of the kits come with a beefy bar at the top that's U-bolted to the stock swaybar tube... I didn't bother to do that, do I need to worry about that tube getting bent?
