New guy with a Super a

Postby LSG3240 » Sat Apr 28, 2007 9:55 pm

Brought home a super a in relativly fair condition today and am still trying to identify it( no ser. # tag) I think its a 48 but will have to wait for daylight. Sat up for five years with no carb on it but I do have the carter carb. Evrything is free and turns. Are all the carbs interchangable? Have access to a zenith one. Will start draining fluids tommorow, any suggestions?

You will love the SA. I have found that parts are easyer to get for the zenith
than the carter both will work fine

Welcome to the SA ranks! The SN is located under the seat on the left-hand seat support--if that helps.

Any slack in the steering?

Here is a pic of the SA that I bought this year. You can buy a new zenith carb very easily. Be careful removing the right side rear tire. I almost flipped mine over. You might want to take a look at this link

Thanks for the safety tips. There is no tag, it was removed by a collector about 4 years ago. The engine casting block has an R at the end so I think it is a 48 model. The transmission was drained and contained at least 3 quarts of water. Hydraulics were drained and were very clean. Engine oil drained as well and looked good for sitting up five years. Engine turns over well by hand. Found a hole in the exhaust manifold. Sheet metal rough but servicable. Changed sparkplugs. Removed gas tank and 2 quarts of something that sort of resembled gasoline. When I get the carb on we are gonna give it a whirl.
