Have lurked here in the past but registered to reply to this post.
I may be too late to help here but the easiest way to get any pilot bearing out is to get a bolt that will just fit inside the bearing then pack the bearing with grease about 3/4 full put the bolt in and whack with a hammer. Bearing will pop right out.
While you have the flywheel out paint the outside black and highlight the timing mark white or silver. Sure to help when timing.
