Hi,
I just started here after uncovering an unknown part on my 41 A. I took the transmission inspection cover off the front of the clutch housing and there was a triangular piece of sheet metal folded over the rivets holding it to the cover. The rivets were loose and the metal wiggles. It appaers to be something like a timing mark but it is badly bent. Any idea what it is for and how to straighten it to the correct position?
Thanks,
Dan

That is the timing pointer. Can you use a small punch to tighten the rivets? There is also a small arrow on the flywheel. You need to clean them both and apply a little white paint so that when you need to time the engine you can see them. The mark on the flywheel is hard to see. This picture is from a Super A manual, but the flywheel is the same.

Thank you for your quick reply. I'll do what I have to, to fasten the pointer solidly. The manual page is a great help.
Thanks again.
