Confused

After going threw the posts at YT I come up with conflicting info on capacities for a Super A. Tranny 4.5 Qt PTO 1 QT. Or, tranny and PTO 5 Qt. One final 1 Qt. or 3 pts. No mention of the PTO with added belt pulley. There is a fill plug on the tranny and PTO. Only one fluid level plug on the side of the tranny that looks to be well below a 5 Qt. level. Which is correct ?

There is a lot of conflicting informaton available on YT. There are some very knowledgable people that post there, but many others that are not. The PTO shares the same oil with the transmission and differential. One level plug covers all of it. Add oil to the level plug, whatever it takes.
Some people seem to worry about adding oil to the fill plug over the pulley housing. Forget it. The main reason for the plug is to see the gears when setting the mesh. I think the installation instructions say to dump some in there on a "dry" attachment that has just been installed. When you change the oil, the PTO isn't going to be any drier than it is after the tractor is parked for a over night.

Page 27 of the IH manual says 5 1/2 qt. for the transmittion with PTO and pulley and 1 1/2 qt. for each axel housing. That's 8 1/2 qt. poured into the transmittion if the transmittion, PTO, and axel housings share the same oil. Is this correct?

No. The axel housings (final drive housings) are separate. They are drained by removing the pans and filled through filler/level plugs on the inside towards the front. Don't fill them clear to the level plug, stop just below the pan gaskets so they don't weep through the gasket. Look at item 30 on pages 22, 25 and 26 of the manual Don pointed you at.

there is a drain for the pto as well as transmission so dont forget to drain that too.I had to actually poke a stick in mine to get it to drain so if u take the plug out and nothing comes out do not assume it has no oil.If you dont get that oil out too then it will contaminate your new oil.
