Farmall A Plow
I have a 1946 Farmall A and just found a one bottom plow with the manual lift and depth adjusting lever. It is in pieces and I need to know what model it is so I can find a manual to put it together and mount on my tractor. Was there more than one model with manual lift?

Re: Farmall A Plow
If the plow is for an A, then probably it is the 193 or A-193 Moldboard Plow.
I have it on the server I think.. checking.. if not, I will try to upload it in a bit.

Re: Farmall A Plow
The A-193 is for a Super A. Yours is more likely an A-91, A-92 or (most likely) A-192. I might be able to tell which from some pictures. A manual for any of them may be close enough to figure out how it goes together.

Re: Farmall A Plow
Yup, Jim is right..... I am still a little unsure of the proper nomneclature for specific Letter Series tractors. However, ...
Update info:
It seems I have these two for sure... a McCormick International 193 and 193 High Clearance MoldBoard Plows Owners Manual and an A-192 Moldboard Plow Owner's Manual. I had the High Clear up, but in the wrong section, need to find out where I put it.. and then have to resize and upload the A-192 Manual. May take a day or so.. will let you know.
Both of these should be up by tomorrow I hope.

Thanks. I will take a look at the manual and see if it is like mine. At this point any information is helpful.

Re: Farmall A Plow
If my memory serves me correctly, the plow for Super A looks like a slightly larger version of one for a cub and bolts to drawbar the same as a cub plow does. while the A plow has a considerably longer beam and has it's own brackets to bolt it to the finals.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Re: Farmall A Plow
I have found some pictures of plows for the Super A and they all have 2 springs on the front of the beam that mounts to the drawbar. Mine does not have these springs. It appears to have a long beam that attaches to the ears on the back side of the steering gear housing. Please let me know if I am wrong.

Re: Farmall A Plow
Yes, a pair of bars attach to the 2 ears. They meet at a point roughly below the bell housing where the beam is attached to them. The depth control lever bolts to the bell housing and has a link down to the front of the beam.
The beam should have a crossbar somewhat behind the back of the fenders. A lever-controlled rockshaft attaches to the final drives and is linked to the crossbar.

Re: Farmall A Plow
I was over at cubbrian's house last night and found a picture of my plow in one of his tractor books. It had a hand crank on the back to adjust the tilt and two adjusting levers mounted somewhere to the right of the seat. One to raise and lower the plow, the other must be the depth adjustment. The picture didn't show how the entire plow was mounted on the tractor. It is called an A-192. Now all I need is a parts and operator's manual for the plow. Does anyone know where I can find them?
