Was having problems starting my Super A, but it did crank start. The problem came down to bad connections. During the search for the problem I started it without the battery in line. After that the generator does not charge. I know it should not be started without all conections. Did I burn out the generator or the regulator?

Follow this troubleshooting chart to see if you have a problem with either component:

It may be that you just need to re-polarize the system and may not have damaged any components.

Thank you Bigdog. I got to step 3 ( f to ground) the meter started to show charge on low and high. Have about 7 v. now. Not sure if that was suppose to happen, but it is old and does what it wants to. Everything works good now.
Thanks
