I tore down the engine for my Super A this weekend and started looking around for rebuild parts. I can't seem to find anyone that carries a camshaft or cam bearings. Does anyone know of a source for these??

Well I guess I would start with JP Tractor Salvage, and then I would try farmallparts.com. You might have to call in to farmallparts.com. I might have a few other places but I will have to scan my bookmarks for them.

Thanks, I already tried both of them Farmall parts only lists a cam gear and jp doesn't sell new parts or at least from their website they don't. I looked up cam bearings in my parts manual and there is no listing do these even have cam bearings??

Looking around on the net I found this place.

http://www.tractorpartsasap.com

At the bottom of the site they say they have cam bearings for an A. Might want to give them a call. Why do you need a new camshaft?

I also tried another place,

http://www.mainetractors.com/farmall_su ... armall.htm

and located a cam shaft for 85.00. You would have to call these guys too.

Are you sure you need a camshaft and bearings. Local machine shop told me several years ago that he hardly ever found problems with either on the old farm tractors due to the slow speeds. When I look at my parts cd, it does not show cambearings, except for a single front bushing used on block number 366204R3

I did not remember if the Super A had bearings for the cam. However, I have not heard of them having to be replaced due to wear. Unless something got in there and did damage I would be surprised that a replacement was necessary.

The Super A does not have cam bearings, it rides directly in the block... your search is over :)

Thanks for all your responses. I do not know if I need a cam but since I am replacing almost everything else I just figured why leave the old cam.

If I were in your shoes I would look and see what the cam lobe ware tolerances are, measure it, and then see if it is within specs. If so, I would just put the old one right back in.

The Farmall a / super A does not have cam bearings. the cam turn too slow to require bearings and rarey wear out. There isnt any new cams out there unless you find them from someone that sells new old stock parts. Like Tom Underwood from parts of the past. Joes farmall may have one. A cam from a farmall A through B,C, super C, Super A through 140 will work just fine. they are all the same basic block
