Question

Postby LTsmith » Mon May 24, 2010 4:31 pm

I have just bought a IH Model A cub
Don't know if it is super or non super but want to get a manual
The date stamp is 7-24-c Which is 1957 I believe
The manuals I find online are for Prior to 1957
Will this be of any value to me?
If anyone can direct me to a link for a manual
I could sure use it.
Thanks

LT - the date code is a 57 date code but Super A's were no longer in production at that time. I don't know which casting you took the date code from but it is possible something has been replaced. The serial number for the tractor should be located at the right hand seat rail. It also would be either an A or Super A and not an A cub. Cubs were a whole different model. See if you can locate your serial number and then you should be able to identify what you have. Manuals are available either through a Case IH dealer or from Binder Books at www.binderbooks.com

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

My wife says I don't listen to her. - - - - - - - - Or something like that!

An IH A and a Cub are two different tractors.

Depending on you mechanical ability I would suggest the I&T manuals for your tractor. The I&T IH-8 covers both the Cub and A series tractors. But the I&T manuals are for a more experienced mechanic.

Once the tractor is identified, obtain the operators. service manual and parts manual.

That serial is a 1947 Farmall A. Could the code on the block be 7-24-Q? If it is a C code, the block has been replaced or the tractor is some sort of mix-n-match.

Jim
It just may be a Q the little tail isn't much now and it's so close to the screw that it's hard to tell.
on the side of the transmission there is a 6-28-7 if that helps.
Sure want the right manual.
Thanks
Louis

OHV engine? 4-speed transmission? no hydraulics? It is an A.
