Farmall Super A, AV, 1939 - 1954

I finally got time to work on the SA. Put it all back together and it runs awesome, is strong, smooth, quiet. I did notice I have a radiator leak, but the cracked block does not leak at all.

Nice!

Am I just seeing things, or is the left rear dished "out" and the right dished "in"? Is there a reason for that, implement wise? What kind of implement is attached in the pics?

Yes Roy, they are.
That is the way it was set up when I got it. I live on a hill, so I left it that way. It also has the front set wide, giving it a nice wide stance.
Also, you can not tell in the pictures, but the rear tires are foam filled, 9.5x24's
It has a 3 pt hitch and i have a middle buster/potato plow on it. It also has a, over-running clutch adapter, and a 90* angle drive.
It is not pretty, and needs a cosmetic makeover, but it is solid.
Being a late 1950 model, I would think it is one of the last ones with the multi fuel option(distillate).
She is going to make someone a nice worker.

Dale, the "A" is a great tractor capable of many tasks, I had one ( an A not Sa) for approx. 20 years and it gave excellent service.

Dale, it may not be a show queen, but if I had "spare money setting around about to go bad" I would be on that thing like a duck on a junebug! Tin looks nice and straight, only thing it really, really needs is to get them wheels set in to 44" and some 11.2-24's on the back!

It's hard to tell in your pics, is the small gas tank still on it? How 'bout the shutters?
I like pretty much all IH tractors, but if I won the lottery (reckon I should buy a ticket first

) I would buy a nice 1586 to restore, fix the stuff up I already have, and then spend the rest buying up as many Super A's as I could! THey'll always be my favorite!

Al,
Funny you mention winning the lottery. My daughter says I will never win it, cause you do need a ticket.
As Bigdog says, I never met a tractor I didn't like. I thoroughly enjoy my SA. It is very strong and a lot of fun to plow & disc with. I wish I had a Woods 59 for it. With it's power, that would be a grass cutting monster.
